Yakima, WA – Today, the Dan Newhouse for Congress campaign announced Congressman Newhouse has earned the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA) for his re-election.
NRA Chairman Chris Cox cited Congressman Newhouse’s consistent and proven voting record for the endorsement: “Your dedication to protecting the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment has been demonstrated time and again by your opposition to President Obama’s attempts to ban lawfully-owned firearms, magazines, and ammunition, and standing strong against Hillary Clinton, President Obama and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control agenda.”
“We appreciate your recent opposition to President Obama’s anti-gun Executive Actions and for signing a letter to the Obama Administration opposing its flagrant attempt to ban commonly used ammunition for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15,” Cox continued.
The endorsement went on to applaud Congressman Newhouse’s vote against “Operation Choke Point,” which the Obama Administration devised to intimidate banks into refusing financial services to lawful ammunition and firearms dealers. Cox also thanked Congressman Newhouse for his support of law-abiding Americans’ right to carry their permitted concealed firearms across state lines, as well as thanking him for his support of the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, a bill that protects traditional hunting ammunition, opens land access for hunting and fishing, and allows firearms to be legally carried on land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
“The NRA is America’s foremost defender of Second Amendment rights and I am honored to have their endorsement,” said Congressman Newhouse. “I have always been a steadfast supporter of the right to keep and bear arms, and I look forward to continuing to protect these rights for the citizens of Central Washington.”
